Ferreira Family

    Papers (primarily photocopies), 1819-1984.  2 folders.  The Ferreira family were among a group of Presbyterian Portuguese from the Madeira Islands who came to the United States as refugees from Catholic authority between 1848-1852, settling in Illinois.  The collection contains photocopies of family trees and of government documents and other materials related to the history of the family.  Also present are uncataloged photographs.  In English and Portuguese.  Register availableGift of Dorothy Robnett Doyle.
