- Brandon Barringer, treasurer of Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia, was a trustee of Jefferson Hospital and represented Jefferson as a member of the Hospital Council of Philadelphia, "a non-profit organization devoted to the improvement and coordination of hospital services." He held the offices of the secretary and acting chairman at various times, as well as chairman of the Blue Cross Relations Committee. These papers for Brandon Barringer relate to his activities with the Hospital Council of Philadelphia. Types of papers include: incoming and outgoing correspondence, memoranda, minute, reports, and other materials.

Scope and content note
These papers span from 1956 to 1960 and detail the Hospital Council of Philadelphia's negotiations with Blue Cross over a revision to their contract, and then reactions to this revision. Box 1 details the negotiations with Blue Cross and inter-council discussion and research during the 1956-1957 period. Box 2 contains a statement from the vice president of Blue Cross, information on Blue Cross and its contract with members, and the new contract with the Hospital Council, and spans 1957-1959. Box 3 concludes with the 1958-1960 period where the Council discusses reactions to their new contract, and ends with their reorganization and merger into the Delaware Valley Hospital Council. Also included are two folders containing undated material.
