Abstract

Mrs. John Breunig of Philadelphia had three sons in the armed forces during World War II. The collection includes about twenty letters and telegrams from the sons to each other or to their mother. Also included are a few photos two ration books, and some miscellaneous notes.

Arthur Breunig (December 29, 1913-August 20, 1986) served in the Pacific from June 1942 till November 2, 1944. The collection contains two letters and two telegrams from Arthur.

John Joseph Breunig (November 16, 1919-October 20, 1966) served in New Guinea. There is only one letter of his preserved.

Milton Breunig (August 2, 1922-February 7, 1997) was the youngest son and most of the letters preserved were from him. He served in Germany and France from June 22, 1944-January 25, 1946). His letters were to his mother, and brothers Carl and Arthur. His letters suggest that Carl remained a civilian during World War II.
