Abstract
These files contain copies of materials from the records of the Columbia University Research in Contemporary Cultures Projects, a complete set of which is in the Margaret Mead Papers at the Library of Congress. The projects gathered information on immigrants of different means from a variety of countries, including Austria, Belgium, Czechia and Slovakia, England, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Russia, Spain, Syria, and Turkey. A portion of the records are also devoted to Jewish studies. The bulk of the files contain reports or edited transcripts of interviews by members of the research groups. Also present are abstracts of the interviews and minutes from meetings of the research groups. Related materials include a small quantity of correspondence, notes, and material related to testing and analytical procedures. In some cases the interview files contain copies of papers based on data generated by the projects. The interviews touch upon a wide variety of subjects from marriage, children, and parenting; to women's health issues concerning menstrual health and pregnancy; to culture, societal norms, and religion.
