Scope and content note

This collection consists of two three-ring binder notebooks from Arthur Ewen, a student of the Philadelphia Textile School of the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art. Made in 1924, one volume was for the class "Jacquard Design," while the other was for "Color Harmony." The "Jacquard Design" volume contains a couple pages of handwritten notes, but is mostly filled with design plates for jacquard weaving machines, hand-colored patterns, and motif drawings. The "Color Harmony" notebook also has some pages of handwritten notes, but primarily contains plates of color theory exercises and handmade designs.
