- Abstract
- Edith Lincoln Leonard (1900-1989) was a teacher at Tredyffrin Easttown High School. During World War II she received and preserved letters from her former students. With the except of one letter dated July 23, 1916 from L.P. Wood to J.B. Leonard with comments on Naval action at the close of World War I and some miscellaneous items, the bulk of this collection focuses on World War II. The correspondents include Phil Huffman, Alan Grout, Dick Thomas, J.P. Danton, George Dawson Perry, and Warner Bunden. The letters discuss life in the service from training camp through to the end of the men's service. Some topics include censorship, active duty in the Army, Naval Air Combat Intelligence, West Coast and Pacific assignments, the Zoot Suit Riots, Marine and Navy life.
