Scope and Contents note
The Lovekin Water Heater Manufacturing Company started life as the Deily and Fowler Iron Works, which was founded in Philadelphia (39 Laurel Street) in 1842. Deily and Fowler was the largest U. S. producer of gas holders in the 1800s and early 1900s. The iron works evolved into the Lovekin Water Heater Manufacturing Company in the 1920s, which produced one of the first automatic gas water heaters in the world. In 1965 the Lovekin was sold to the Bradford White Company in Pennsylvania.
This collection documents the history of the Lovekin Company through not only a small cache of company records, legal documents, and photographs, but also through an assortment of items from Deily and Fowler, which includes reports, specifications, catalogs, and photographs. There is similar material from the Lovekin period as well.
