Scope and content note

Mill Creek Hundred is a historical subdivision of New Castle County, Delaware, that lays between the Pennsylvania border and White Clay and Red Clay creeks and contains towns such as Hockessin, Pike Creek, and a portion of Newark. This collection documents nearly one hundred years of history of lands in this region owned primarily by the Ball and Bracken (Brackin) families in the 1700s. There are thirty items in the collection, most of which are surveys, with attached petitions and orders, done by various state and Penn family-appointed surveyors, such as George Dakeyne, Thomas Noxon, and Benjamin Eastburn. There are also a few notes and miscellaneous items. Two documents contain mention of a copper mine in New Castle County near Bracken family lands.
