- Abstract
- A free African-American originally from Madagascar, Warley Bascom left Charleston, South Carolina, in 1861 to establish an upholstery and interior decorating business in Philadelphia. Two sons and a daughter continued the business until 1973. The ledger shows customers' accounts and includes an index listing customers alphabetically by name.
