Murals

Murals in Chinatown play a role in publically celebrating culture and commemorating the community's history. The mural at 10th and Winter Streets by Arturo Ho emphasizes key themes in the history of Chinatown: the hard work of early sojourners and laundry workers, family life, the fight to Save Chinatown, the redevelopment of Chinatown, and current concerns about education.

The mural by Lily Yeh at Gim San Plaza portrays the spiritual strivings of Chinese immigrants who built Gold Mountain. The birds perched on the tree in the mural represent life. It graces the north wall of Gim San Plaza, the first redevelopment project completed by PCDC.
