Yellow Seeds

Yellow Seeds broadside
Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies

Yellow Seeds was a radical student group which joined the fight to Save Chinatown in the early 1970s. The slogan on this broadside, "Same Struggle, Same Fight," expressed the link Yellow Seeds members saw between the Save Chinatown movement and the social justice struggles of African-Americans, Latinos, and other "minority and working people."

The Save Chinatown movement was a coalition of many community groups who did not always agree on other community agendas. Yellow Seeds often took a more militant tone than other organizations in the movement. In this broadside they publicly criticized local leaders like T.T. Chang, the CBA, and even PCDC for not fighting actively enough for Chinatown's disenfranchised.
